Ataahua Wine
The beautiful Waipara Valley in North Canterbury is home to Ataahua Wines. Resting amongst traditional pastoral farms and the Waipara Domain, the vineyard enjoys the ideal grape growing conditions of this warm dry valley. The Maori translation of Ataahua is beautiful, picturesque, a place of beauty – so appropriate to the valley, the
vineyard and the wines alike. Hand tended vines and delicately handcrafted wines have produced a range of unique and delicious wines produced in small quantities.

Black Estate
Black Estate is family owned and comprises of three organic hillside vineyards in North Canterbury. The vineyards lie within a 10 km stretch of mainly clay limestone soils. The winemaking is simple - good estate grown fruit, organic and biodynamic, handpicked, vineyard driven yeasts, no additives or fining and minimum sulphur at bottling. Lone Goat’s name is inspired by the vineyard’s sole inhabitant and guardian of the vines, Zoe the goat. This mischievous madam is well known for her sassy attitude and
excellent taste. Lone Goat is Canterbury’s quirky boutique winery from Burnham, South of Christchurch which has been producing outstanding Canterbury wines for nearly 30 years!

Main Divide Wines
Main Divide is the local name for the Southern Alps that form the backbone of the South Island. Wines for Main Divide are sourced from selected growers around North Canterbury chosen for their ability to express unique regional and varietal characters. The wines are made by the Donaldson family at their Waipara Valley winery.

Mon Cheval Wines

Mon Cheval Wines originate from grapes grown on a  small 2.2 hectare vineyard at the bottom of Weka Pass in the Waipara Valley was planted with Pinot Noir in 2003, with a tiny amount of Riesling added 4 years later. Our mission is to produce the best possible wines from this beautiful land in which we see so much potential. Our dream was made possible by our champion harness race horse “Under Cover Lover” who raced in New Zealand, Australia and United States from 1998-2000 and resides here with us on the property today. It was her success and huge financial contribution which enabled us to follow our passion for wine and her sheer determination keeps reminding us, to never give up on our dream.

We engaged the services of the highly regarded blind winemaker CP Lin, the blind winemaking genius that took Mountford Estate to international fame. His lack of sight has helped him develop an incredible palate and sharpen all his other senses. This sensitivity shows through in his wines with his use of traditional wine making methods of no fining or filtration. Mon Cheval Pinots are a wonderful southern hemisphere interpretation of the big Old World Burgundys. As one of the world’s rare blind winemakers C.P is forthright when refuting any notions that his handicap has influenced the way he makes his wines.

Mt Beautiful’s Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir are elegant, made in an artisan, old-world style, and uniquely hand blended while exhibiting balance with lovely acidity to allow for superb aging potential.
